Sharon Van Etten is epic. I follow her here:
https://www.facebook.com/SharonVanEttenMusic/
She reminds me somewhat of a combination of Leonard Cohen, and Marianne Faithfull…
She is in DC this coming Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the 9:30 Club. Speaking of the theme of this video – when was the last time you did the club scene in DC?
This songs reminds me of my downtown New York City Greenwich Village, Sherman Square - Needle Park, Verdi Square, Washington Square years, going from gallery to gallery and agent to agent with my art slides.
The Veteran’s Administration – giving you a second opportunity to die for your country.
The Veteran’s Administration – giving you a second opportunity to die for your country. A reality check on the idea of going to a single payer health care system – as if the current system is not bad enough.
We do not need Obamacare repealed and replaced. We need it fixed. The answer is more accountability and more competition.
Meanwhile this YouTube is yet another reminder of the horrors of the one example of a US government-run single payer healthcare
system.
Each and every one of my experiences of reaching-out to the VA to advocate for a veteran has been horrific of unbelievable proportions. If this is an example of a US government-run single payer healthcare system, we are all going to go broke paying the necessary healthcare taxes – and then die.

system work in the United States? We already know the answer, because America
already has single-payer, government-run health care. Author and commentator
Pete Hegseth explains.” 10Apr2017

On Friday, early in the afternoon, Sept. 23, 2016, a driver
blew through an accident scene on westbound Rt. 140 and Sandymount Road, almost
hit a Westminster Vol. Fire Dept. EMS provider, and sideswiped ambulance 38.
“The men and women of the Westminster Vol. Fire Dept., on
behalf of all Carroll County fire fighters. EMS provides and police officers,
urge the driving public to exercise extra restraint, caution, care, and
patience when they come upon fire and police officials responding at an
accident scene.
The consequences of not exercising that extra care can be
horrific. Besides, they could attending to your loved-one, neighbor, friend, or
family member – or the first responder hurt or killed by your actions could be
your loved-one, neighbor, friend, or family member. Move over - we want
everyone to come home safely at the end of the day.” Kevin E. Dayhoff

Another excellent video from Humane Watch exposing HSUS for
what they really are after - your money, not animal welfare. My dysfunctional
relationship with this organization is a matter of public record. One disagrees
with them at enormous peril. Received some of the worst, most harrowing threats
I have ever received as a journalist, came from this organization. On par with
the threats I received as an elected official. Fortunately my Baltimore Sun
editor backed me up. Thank goodness.
The recent resignation of Steve Powell, chief of staff for
the Board of Commissioners for Carroll County, brought back memories of other
distinguished individuals in county history who have endured that arduous
position: Richard "Pat" Hill, Robert A. "Max" Bair and
George A. Grier, to name a few.
In full disclosure, this writer had the honor and privilege
to have worked with every county chief of staff — executive assistant — since
the position was created in 1959.
[…]
Whether you agreed or disagreed with them, those who have
held the position deserve a special place in our hearts and prayers for their
service and commitment to Carroll County; for it is a wonder they are able to
retire and not be committed: On any given day, the chief must keep the wheels
of government running smoothly.
Meanwhile, it is only fitting that Powell will be leaving to
take a job in a retirement home — as vice president of finance for Carroll
Lutheran Village. Join me in wishing him the best.
