Update: Chill out folks, it's only pot. It isn't like he was caught using caffeine.
A Federal Judge claims Andrew Sullivan's recent arrest on a marijuana charge raises fundamental issues of law, though the charges have been dismissed. The judge believes the dismissal raises equal protection issues. However, he was forced to dismiss the charges at the DA's request, though feeling that justice was not being served. Hmm

I liked the remark on the whole matter by Vodkapundit in his post, “A blog item of Astounding Uselessness.”
It reads: “UPDATE: A retired “felony weight” pot distributor is ready to throw the book at Andrew. “Anybody stupid enough to get busted for dope is a danger to himself and others and should be locked up for the good of society. Dude, if you can’t outsmart a narc . . .”
And yes, of course, I liked: “Make point about the media feeding frenzy if, say, George Will had been busted for pot.”
