Sharon Van Etten - Seventeen

“Seventeen” by Sharon Van Etten Feb. 5, 2019

Hat Tip: Leslie Eckard

Sharon Van Etten is epic. I follow her here:
https://www.facebook.com/SharonVanEttenMusic/

She reminds me somewhat of a combination of Leonard Cohen, and Marianne Faithfull…

She is in DC this coming Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the 9:30 Club. Speaking of the theme of this video – when was the last time you did the club scene in DC?

This songs reminds me of my downtown New York City Greenwich Village, Sherman Square - Needle Park, Verdi Square, Washington Square years, going from gallery to gallery and agent to agent with my art slides.

There is a good interview with her in the Jan. 3, 2019 New York Times by Joe Coscarelli, “The Many Lives of Sharon Van Etten - After her first child and a turn toward television, the singer-songwriter returns with a fresh outlook and a new sound on “Remind Me Tomorrow,” her fifth album.” Find the article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/03/arts/music/sharon-van-etten-remind-me-tomorrow-interview.html?action=click&module=RelatedLinks&pgtype=Article

Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes

Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes

Artist: Mott the Hoople
Album: All the Young Dudes
Year: 1972
Label: CBS, Columbia
Writer(s): David Bowie

Lyrics:

Well Billy rapped all night about his suicide
How he'd kick it in the head when he was twenty-five
Speed jive dont wanna stay alive when youre twenty-five

And Wendys stealing clothes from Marks and Sparks
And Freedys got spots from ripping off the stars
From his face, funky little boat race

The television man is crazy saying were juvenile delinquent
wrecks
Oh man I need TV when I got T-Rex
Oh brother you guessed, Im a dude dad

All the young dudes
(Hey dudes!)
Carry the news
(Where are ya?)
Boogaloo dudes
(Stand up, come on)
Carry the news

All the young dudes
(I wanna hear you)
Carry the news
(I wanna see you)
Boogaloo dudes
(And I wanna talk to you, all of you)
Carry the news

Now Lucy looking sweet 'cause he dresses like a queen
But he can kick like a mule, its a real mean team
But we can love, oh yes we can love

And my brothers back at home with his Beatles and his Stones
We never got it off on that Revolution stuff
What a drag, too many snags

Now I drunk a lot of wine and Im feeling fine
Gotta race some cat to bed
Oh is there concrete all around or is it in my head?
Yeah, Im a dude dad

All the young dudes
(Hey dudes!)
Carry the news
(Where are ya?)
Boogaloo dudes
(Stand up)
Carry the news

All the young dudes
(I wanna hear ya)
Carry the news
(I wanna see you)
Boogaloo dudes
(And I wanna relate to you)
Carry the news

All the young dudes
(What dudes?)
Carry the news
(Lets hear the news, come on)
Boogaloo dudes
(I wanna kick you)
Carry the news

(Hey you there, with the glasses)
All the young dudes
Carry the news
(I want you)
Boogaloo dudes
(I want you at the front)
Carry the news
(Now you, all his friends)

All the young dudes
(Now you bring him down 'cause I want him)
Carry the news
Boogaloo dudes
(I want him right here, bring him, come on)
Carry the news
(Bring him, ha ha, here you go)

All the young dudes
(Ive wanted to do this for years, ha ha ha)
Carry the news
(There you go!)
Boogaloo dudes
(How do you feel?)

Carry the news

David Bowie dies at 69; mesmerizing performer and restless innovator
Washington Post - By Tara Bahrampour January 11, 2016

David Bowie, the self-described “tasteful thief” who appropriated from and influenced glam rock, soul, disco, new wave, punk rock, and haute couture, and whose edgy, androgynous alter egos invited fans to explore their own dark places, died Jan. 10, two days after his 69th birthday.

The Beatles-While My Guitar Gently Weeps

The Beatles-While My Guitar Gently Weeps
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping

While my guitar gently weeps

I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping

Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know why nobody told you

how to unfold you love

I don't know how someone controlled you

they bought and sold you

I look at the world and I notice it's turning

While my guitar gently weeps

With every mistake we must surely be learning

Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know how you were diverted

you were perverted too

I don't know how you were inverted

no one alerted you

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping

While my guitar gently weeps

I look at you all

Still my guitar gently weeps

Oh, oh, oh

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

Yeah yeah yeah yeah

yeah yeah yeah yeah

Alvin Lee is coming home to change the world by Kevin E. Dayhoff Wednesday, May 1, 2013

It has been almost two-months since the legendary rock-blues master British guitarist Alvin Lee; the lead singer of the band “Ten Years After,” passed away on March 6.

His sudden death at age 68 was attributed to “unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure… http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=5755

“Cricklewood Green,” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoXhI_FYRNw, was the fifth album released by the band “Ten Years After,” featuring lead singer Alvin Lee, {Music Lee-Alvin.} Mr. Lee passed away March 6, 2013 at the age of 68. One of my favorites from the album was “50,000 miles beneath My Brain.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNHqUhGEFZM

Last Thursday, Time magazine editors Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy provided a sneak peek behind the curtains into the most exclusive club in the world, “The Presidents Club,” to a crowd that filled McDaniel College’s Decker Lecture Hall in Westminster.

For presidential scholars and arcane American history junkies alike, the timing of the presentation could not have been more perfect. … http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=5741
