The Rush To Censor Limbaugh | Fox News

The Rush To Censor Limbaugh | Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/03/05/rush-to-censor-limbaugh/

Rush Limbaugh was broadsided last week for attacking a star witness for the Democrats who demanded government force insurers to subsidize contraceptives. He called 30-year-old Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute.”

Let’s all agree Limbaugh crossed a line.

He agrees. He posted an apology to Fluke “for the insulting word choices.” ... http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/03/05/rush-to-censor-limbaugh/

The scandal-ette should be over.

So why are the Left and the media still pushing and publicizing a campaign for advertisers to dump the Limbaugh show and end his career?

Because it has little to do with his words. This is all about disingenuous politics. Liberals want this government-mandate controversy to be not about religious liberty, which is devastating, but about contraceptives, which works in their favor.

That is intellectually dishonest.

They want to position conservatives as “anti-women.” That’s as ugly as it is untrue. ... http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/03/05/rush-to-censor-limbaugh/

Newsbusters - Bozell Column: Protesters Occupy the Liberal Media

Bozell Column: Protesters Occupy the Liberal Media

When the Tea Party movement erupted in the spring of 2009, the media elites dismissed them as corporate-generated “Astroturf” noise. They found them barely worth covering, even to besmirch them.

But when the “Occupy Wall Street” protests began on September 17, the liberal media was quickly bombarded with complaints from the Left that the media were ignoring this massive “news” story. NPR executive editor Dick Meyer said the early protests “did not involve large numbers of people, prominent people, a great disruption, or an especially clear objective.” So the protesters went out and blocked the Brooklyn Bridge and drew 700 arrests – voila, a national story.

Contemplate this: the “Occupy” folks drew more broadcast network stories in the first nine days of coverage (24) than the Tea Party drew in the first nine months (19).

NBC’s Michelle Franzen was the first promoter – okay, she calls herself a “reporter” – on the scene. "Protesters fed up with the economy and social inequality turned out en masse over the weekend,” she announced on “Today” on October 3. “Voicing their discontent and marching for change." Her expert source, Columbia professor Dorian Warren, dutifully proclaimed the Wall Street protests were "a liberal version of the Tea Party" that “could potentially carry over into the 2012 elections and get people to the polls."

So let’s get this straight. The protests were like a stumbling little fawn trying to find its legs. They’d been in existence for about two weeks, and NBC was already suggesting the “potential” for what the Tea Party achieved in 2010 – a massive Democratic wave election in 2012. Journalists are either easily impressed or very energetic practitioners of wishful thinking… http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-bozell/2011/10/11/bozell-column-protesters-occupy-liberal-media

Charles Gibson's Palin Double Standard by Brent Bozell III

Charles Gibson's Palin Double Standard by Brent Bozell III

Thursday, September 18, 2008

The McCain campaign went looking for a major anchor to be awarded the blessing and the curse of the first Sarah Palin interview -- a blessing for ratings and a curse from all the competitors who would accuse the winners of being soft on Republicans. At CBS, Katie Couric had wallowed in fan-club-president questions to Hillary Clinton about her "pure stamina," so she couldn't be first. NBC's Brian Williams kept asking Barack Obama those hardballs about how his late mother would swoon over the latest glowingly positive "news" magazine cover. How hard was it to pick Charlie Gibson on ABC?

Of the three anchors, Gibson is the one with the longest career in the hard-news trenches. The McCain people knew Gibson was not a "friendly." They knew Palin's first interview was going to be a grilling -- not just because the media saw her as untested, but because of the enormous liberal-media peer pressure to puncture her popularity.
