Posted: Sunday, December 26, 2010 By Jim Lee

Police Chief Says Public Has a Need for Speed ... Cameras

Audio: Chief Jim Johnson discusses speed cameras during his confirmation hearing earlier this month.

The idea to remove the 15 unit cap on speed cameras in the county was a mere twinkle in Councilman Tom Quirks eye two weeks ago, when Police Chief Jim Johnson appeared before the County Council for his confirmation hearing.
Johnson, in response to Quirk's question about the effectiveness of speed cameras, told the council the program has been very successful... http://catonsville.patch.com/articles/police-chief-says-public-has-a-need-for-speed-cameras#c

Joe Seehusen, co-chair of the county chapter of Americans for Prosperity, said there is no evidence speed cameras "are doing any good for the community."
Kevin Kamenetz, shown here taking the oath of office on Dec 6, his family beside him, is working to close down his law office but may still have to represent some clients with civil cases, according to a spokesman.
County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced Tuesday the hiring of Yolanda Winkler to lead the county's lobbying efforts in Annapolis.
