There is much about Carroll County that stands out in a positive way, but “outstanding” just doesn’t seem to be a strong enough word for describing Dads Works, an extremely relevant and unique local program.
Dads Works helps fathers connect with and stay connected with their children. Its relevance has to do with how commonplace divorce has unfortunately become in our society, and with the fact that in the overwhelming number of cases of divorce, it is the father who is separated from the children of the marriage.
Research over the past few decades has shown that children from fatherless homes are more likely to become involved in drug and alcohol abuse, to drop out of school and to suffer from emotional problems. Boys from these homes are more likely to become involved in crime and to go to prison, and girls are more likely to become pregnant as teens.
