On November 15, 2013, Eldersburg Patch editor Susan Jenkins wrote, “A Maryland State Trooper who was injured in October during a traffic stop has inspired many to take action in the form of a recent 5K benefit and a stepped-up effort by police to increase awareness about the Move Over law.

“Trooper Jacqueline "Jackie" Kline was hit in Anne Arundel County on Oct. 6 as she assisted another trooper on a traffic stop on Route 100 in Pasadena.

“To raise money to help Kline with expenses related to her recovery, about 800 runners participated in the 5K for JK on Nov. 10 in Sykesville. In his blog post on Patch, Kevin E. Dayhoff included photos and wrote about participating in the event. Click here to see the blog and more photos from the 5K for JK...”

It was an emotional night for the family of the Maryland State Police trooper hit by a car last week.

Jacqueline Kline was named Trooper of the Year at the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce’s 28th annual Community Safety Awards Tuesday in Glen Burnie.

Family members were in tears as Trooper Mark Massoni, her boyfriend, and Trooper Justin Fohs, whom Kline stopped to help on the night of her accident, accepted the award on her behalf.

“I’m so proud of her. She obviously deserves it,” said Massoni, who met Kline on duty a year ago. “She’s the most exemplary trooper I ever met.”

Kline remains at the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. She was upgraded from critical to stable condition on Wednesday, and her family said she is recovering. No charges have been filed in the accident, but police are continuing their investigation... http://www.capitalgazette.com/maryland_gazette/news/community_news/family-boyfriend-accept-award-in-glen-burnie-for-injured-state/article_6ab44e72-a7c9-50e8-a0ae-ef49caf72f90.html
