Female Bank Robber Sought In Carroll County

(Union Mills, MD) – Maryland State Police are searching for a female suspect who robbed a northern Carroll County bank this afternoon.

The suspect is described as a white female, possibly in her mid to late 50’s, approximately 5’4” tall and weighing about 220 pounds. She was wearing glasses, a blue shirt, and a blue rain jacket.

Just before 4:00 p.m. today, Maryland State Police were called to the PNC Bank in the 3400-block of Littlestown Pike, Union Mills, Md., for the report of a bank robbery. Arriving troopers were told that moments before, the suspect had walked into the bank alone and handed a note to a teller. The note said the suspect was armed and she was demanding money.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash. She left the bank without displaying a weapon. None of the employees in the bank were injured.

The suspect was last seen leaving the parking lot in a blue sport utility vehicle with Pennsylvania tags. She headed south on Rt. 97, then made a left on Old Hanover Road.

Troopers issued a lookout for the suspect and vehicle which included law enforcement authorities in Pennsylvania. Maryland state troopers and Carroll County deputies searched the area for the suspect vehicle, but did not locate it. The search is continuing.

Anyone who may have seen the suspect or suspect vehicle, or has any information about this robbery is urged to contact Trooper First Class Winkler, of the Westminster Barracks Criminal Investigation Section, at 410-386-3054. Calls may be kept confidential.
