Condé Nast Set To Freeze Pensions July 1 (NYP)
Condé Nast told its 3,000 employees via memo that, starting July 1, their pension plans would be frozen. To take away the sting, Condé said it was going to kick in a bit more on the match to employees' 401(k) retirement fund, raising the company contribution to more than double what employees put in.

New York Times To Begin Website Charges In January (WSJ)
The New York Times will begin charging for access to articles on its website in January according to executive editor Bill Keller, who made the announcement at a dinner for the Foreign Press Association. The New York Times Co. unveiled a plan early this year to begin charging for access to the Web version of its flagship newspaper. Keller's comments helped pinpoint the timing of the plan.

Gerald Posner Hires Mark Lane In Plagiarism Case (Miami New Times)
Gerald Posner, Miami Beach author and admitted plagiarist, has hired a lawyer to defend him against Miami New Times' stories about his literary thefts: Mark Lane, famous for authoring Rush to Judgment, the book that popularized the "grassy knoll" theory absolving Lee Harvey Oswald of guilt in the JFK assassination. Posner's own best-seller and Pulitzer finalist, Case Closed, sought to refute the theories at the heart of Lane's book.

One of television's longest-running series may soon be coming to an end. Multiple reports indicate that NBC has decided to cancel Law & Order after 20 seasons. NBC's decision is reportedly based on a strong development slate for next season and softening ratings for the program.

Condé Nast Considers Move To New W.T.C. Tower (NYT)
Condé Nast has been talking to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey about moving to 1 World Trade Center when it is completed, a potential coup for the signature skyscraper rising at ground zero. According to real estate executives who spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks were secret, the publisher would take up as much as one million square feet in what is planned to be the country's tallest office tower, a symbolic 1,776 feet.

Honolulu Star-Advertiser Begins June 7 With 400 Jobs Lost (KITV.com)
The merged Honolulu Star-Advertiser debuts June 7, with nearly 400 people losing their jobs in the process, according to the publisher of the combined newspaper. The Star-Bulletin purchased The Advertiser from Gannett. Dennis Francis, publisher of the Star-Bulletin who will serve as publisher of the new newspaper, said he expects to hire about half of the Advertiser's 580 employees.

Two days after he called for a boycott of Newsweek in light of an article he described as "blatantly homophobic," Glee creator Ryan Murphy has written a second open letter, revealing that he has since spoken to the article's author, Ramin Setoodeh, who has taken him up on his offer to visit the Glee set and "observe [their] creative process" in order to see how they "construct a TV show dedicated exclusively to the idea of inclusiveness and acceptance for all."

Former Times-Picayune Reporter Rob Nelson Named ABC World News Now Co-Anchor (NOLA.com)
Rob Nelson, who three years ago moved from a job as a reporter in the Times-Picayune's West Bank bureau to news anchor of WWL-Channel 4's morning show, has been hired to anchor World News Now, ABC's overnight newscast. Nelson, who worked for the Times-Picayune for seven years before making the jump to TV, said he will coanchor the newscast with Vinita Nair, who has worked World News Now since September 2008.

An exception to that rule came Tuesday in Los Angeles during the Cable Show, when Comcast CEO Brian Roberts discussed prototype technology that syncs the iPad to a set-top box, turning it into a sophisticated remote control for the TV.
