Gateway Pundit: Obama Sends 1,400 Manufacturing Jobs & Sensitive Technology to Brazil

Gateway Pundit: Obama Sends 1,400 Manufacturing Jobs & Sensitive Technology to Brazil

Yesterday, after a conflict-fraught deliberation process, the Obama Administration awarded the Light Air Support (LAS) contract to Brazilian-based Embraer over Beechcraft; a Wichita Kansas based company with a long history of  supplying the U.S. military with aircraft.  Had Beechcraft been granted the  contract, the company expected  to add or sustain 1,400 jobs in the U.S.  The Embraer plane, on the  other hand, will be primarily built in Brazil, with only  about 50 assembly jobs in the U.S.... Breaking: Obama Sends 1,400 Manufacturing Jobs & Sensitive Technology to Brazil

National Governors Association: Governors Look To Arts, Culture, And Design To Boost Economic Growth

GOVERNORS LOOK TO ARTS, CULTURE AND DESIGN TO BOOST ECONOMIC GROWTH

NGA Report Focuses on New Engines of Growth

April 30, 2012

WASHINGTON—With concerns over job creation and business growth holding a prominent—and persistent—position on policy agendas today, governors are increasingly finding innovative ways to support economic growth, according to a new report out today from the National Governors Association (NGA).

New Engines of Growth: Five Roles for Arts, Culture, and Design focuses on the role that arts, culture and design can play in governors’ policies to create jobs and boost their economies in the short run and transition to an innovation-based economy in the long run.

In particular, arts, culture and design can assist states with economic growth because they can serve the following roles:

Provide a fast-growth, dynamic industry cluster;

Help mature industries become more competitive;

Provide the critical ingredients for innovative places;

Catalyze community revitalization; and

Deliver a better-prepared workforce.

“Economic growth is a top priority for all governors,” said Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a member of NGA’s Executive Committee. “They are using an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ approach throughout all state agencies to put in place policies and programs using arts, culture and design as a means to enhance economic growth.

Globalization and the changing economy have affected individual states differently, but all are searching for ways to support high-growth industries, accelerate innovation, foster entrepreneurial activity, address unemployment, build human capital and revive distressed areas. Using the five roles as a framework, state leaders—governors, economic development officials and state arts agencies—have a way to intentionally and strategically make arts, culture and design an important part of an economic growth agenda.

“As I travel across this country, I have found one thing to be true in state after state: art works,” said NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman. “The National Governor's Association has laid out 5 strategies currently employed by states to use the arts to help strengthen local economies and drive innovation. I look forward to working with our network of state arts agencies to support governors in this work.”

This report was produced by NGA with funding support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

White House rushes to define Keystone message ahead of GOP - The Hill's E2-Wire

White House rushes to define Keystone message ahead of GOP - The Hill's E2-Wire:

By Andrew Restuccia and Ben Geman - 01/22/12

The White House is working to prevent President Obama’s rejection of the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline from becoming a political liability in an election year that will be dominated by jobs and the economy.

White House and campaign officials are emphasizing Obama's energy record in broad strokes -- highlighting steps the administration has taken to encourage oil and gas development and investments in clean energy. Those steps, the officials say, create far more jobs than approval of Keystone would have.

The decision Wednesday to deny TransCanada’s Keystone permit has further united Republicans around a common message: Obama is a job killer." ... http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/e2-wire/205655-white-house-rushes-to-define-keystone-message-ahead-of-gop

LEO SHANE III - Stars and Stripes: Where veterans are finding jobs

Where veterans are finding jobs

Stars and Stripes

Published: November 8, 2011

WASHINGTON — First, the bad news: More than 850,000 veterans are unemployed, and more than a quarter of them are young veterans.

But here’s the good news: More than 1.7 million recently separated veterans and 8.6 million other former servicemembers are collecting paychecks in the civilian workforce. So it can be done, even with the depressed (and depressing) job market.

Hire veterans, Panetta urges business execs

Published: November 8, 2011

WASHINGTON – U.S. troops have sacrificed for their country, and now it’s time for the country to give a little back as troops leave the military – not handouts, but job opportunities, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Monday at a forum with business executives.

Panetta met in New York with CEOs of major corporations including Goldman Sachs and Bank of America, as well as nonprofit and civic leaders.

Several factors are converging to put the squeeze on veterans, he said. The military is set to shrink in the face of wars that are ending and a looming Pentagon budget crunch. Meanwhile, a depressed civilian job market means 11 percent of returning veterans can’t find jobs, Panetta said. And twice that percentage of vets younger than 24 are unemployed.

Hire a Vet to Honor Veterans Day, Officials Say

By Donna Miles  American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8, 2011 – One of the best ways Americans can honor the nation’s veterans this Veterans Day is by giving them a job, three senior government officials told reporters today.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric K. Shinseki, Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis and U.S. Small Business Administrator Karen G. Mills praised initiatives under way to support returning combat veterans, including those President Barack Obama announced yesterday.

[…]

Shinseki noted that 850,000 veterans are unemployed. For veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, the unemployment rate is 12.1 percent -- 3 percent above the national average, he said.

Interesting Stats That Explain A Lot

Interesting Stats That Explain A Lot

 Check this set of statistics!!

The percentage of each past president's cabinet who had worked in the  private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet.

 Here are the percentages.

 T. Roosevelt.................. 38%

 Taft............................... 40%

 Wilson .......................... 52%

 Harding......................... 49%

 Coolidge....................... 48%

 Hoover .........................42%

 F. Roosevelt..................50%

 Truman......................... 50%

 Johnson........................ 47%

 Nixon............................ 53%

 Ford............................. 42%

 Carter.......................... 32%

 Reagan..........................86%

 GH Bush....................... 51%

 Clinton .........................39%

 GW Bush...................... 55%

And the winner is: Obama...................08% ****

This helps to explain the incompetence of this administration: only 8% of them have ever worked in a job not supported by tax money!

 That's right!

Only eight percent---the least, by far, of the last 19 presidents! And these people are trying to tell our big corporations how to run their
business?

They know what's best for GM, Chrysler, Wall Street, and you and me?

How can the president of our nation, the nation with the most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business when he's never worked for one?

Or about jobs when he has never really had one?

And when it's the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers who have spent most of their time in academia, government and/or non-profit
jobs - or as "community organizers.

 ** **
Pass this on! We'll NEVER see these facts in the main stream media.

Celebrating Another ‘Recover Summer’
Kevin E. Dayhoff
The “Recover Summer” announced by Democrats a year ago never materialized and is now nothing but a distant memory for the more than 14 million Americans still looking for work since the “Great Recession” was declared over in June 2009.

Yeah, right – the recession ended in June 2009!...   http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=4539
