Douglas A. McIntyre – 247WallSt.com: Financial Gap Between Germany and France Widens

Financial Gap Between Germany and France Widens

Yet, to make matters worse, you can now add France to the growing “list of countries with troubled financial situations.” …

Germany and France are the twin towers built to support Europe’s dwindling financial strength. That has changed rapidly, and Germany is left to stand alone. That will alter the balance of power in the eurozone. It also will put one more nation in the region — France — on the list of countries with troubled financial situations. 40 Years In The Desert: It's Official, Libya is a Bug Hunt

40 Years In The DesertIt's Official, Libya is a Bug Hunt

So a NATO Spokesman has just admitted that NATO is attempting to assassinate Muammar Gaddafi:
A U.N. resolution justifies the targeting of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, a senior NATO military official with operational knowledge of the Libya mission told CNN Thursday.

Asked by CNN whether Gadhafi was being targeted, the NATO official declined to give a direct answer. The resolution applies to Gadhafi because, as head of the military, he is part of the control and command structure and therefore a legitimate target, the official said.

NATO has been ramping up pressure on the regime, employing helicopters last weekend for the first time against Gadhafi's forces. Explosions are heard often in Tripoli, evidence of allied air strikes.

NATO began bombing Libya on March 31, under a U.N. mandate to protect civilians who have been targeted by Gadhafi's military.
Unsurprising. Since Gadhafi's forces are not folding up under the air assault, the French and the British are desperate to avoid defeat, or worse, the need to send in ground troops, either of which will sink both UK PM Cameron and French President Sarkosy.

This was intended to be a neat neo-colonial adventure with the attendant electoral boost,  killing a few "wogs" for a few votes, but now its looking like a complete clusterf%$#.  http://40yrs.blogspot.com/2011/06/its-official-libya-is-bug-hunt.html

20080326 Daily Mail UK: Think this picture of Carla is racy?

Published in the Daily Mail, UK, 26th March 2008

It's not the look you would normally associate with a First Lady. But the photographer who captured this soon-to-be-auctioned image of the new Mrs Nicolas Sarkozy - former model Carla Bruni - claims he has photos that are even more explicit

[…]

Even so, the First Lady is understandably furious that a nude photo of her went on sale on the eve of her State visit to Britain with her husband.

Experts say the renewed interest in her is likely to send its price up to £2,000.

But an aide to 40-year-old Mrs Sarkozy said: "Carla is very angry, not to say deeply upset, that a commercial organisation has chosen to release this print at such an important time.

"Her priority is to establish herself on the world stage as a first lady France can be proud of."

As well as being the first time that an image of a naked wife of a serving head of state has been sold for profit, it is being touted at a time when Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy and her husband President "Bling Bling" Nicolas Sarkozy are desperately trying to moderate their racy image.

French Foreign Minister Kouchner responds to be being interrupted

On Sunday, September 23rd, 2007, “Amy Proctor” posted the video below on the “French Foreign Minister Calls Code Pink 'Stupid' During Interruption.”

It is a relatively priceless moment captured on video.

Ms. Proctor wrote, in part:

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, who last week said "We must prepare for the worst” against Iran (referring to war), addressed Center for Strategic and International Studies where he was interrupted by (sigh, who else..) Code Pink.

Sarkozy's Summer Place: New Hampshire

Sources Say French President Will Spend Summer Vacation At New Hampshire Resort

CONCORD, N.H., Aug. 3, 2007

(AP) French President Nicolas Sarkozy will follow in the steps of several celebrities when he vacations this month at a resort town on New Hampshire's largest lake.

A source who was not authorized to speak about Sarkozy's private travels confirmed Thursday a report in Wednesday's Boston Globe that the French president planned to spend two weeks in Wolfeboro.

Current and past vacationers there include Drew Barrymore, Taiwan's Madame Chiang Kai-shek and presidential candidate Mitt Romney. The picturesque town is on Lake Winnipesaukee, about two hours north of Boston.

The source said the trip will be a private visit.

[…]

"We're going to have to get our French flags out, I guess," Town Manager David Owen said when asked about them last month.

A spokesman for New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch said officials knew Sarkozy was on his way.

Don Surber nails it…France to U.S.: Take us back

May 7th, 2007 by Don Surber

http://blogs.dailymail.com/donsurber/2007/05/07/france-to-us-take-us-back/

AP reported that in their April 28 debate on MSNBC, the 8 Democratic presidential candidates promised to restore America’s standing in the world.

Said New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson: “We are today internationally and domestically a nation that is no longer a leader.”

[…]

Really. Hmm. Said the French people on Sunday: Take us back, America. We’re sorry.

CNN reported a record 85% of French voters turned out to give Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy a landslide win by 6 points. He’s going to cut taxes and to stop the strikes by unions. Sacre bleu, he’s Ronald Reagan.

[

…]

The French elected him because of the November 2005 riots by Muslim youths: L’Intifada. The French are scared to death of the Muslims.

20070115 Documents Show France Proposed Union With Britain in 1956

Documents Show France Proposed Union With Britain in 1956

January 17th, 2007

Fox News is carrying an interesting AP story that says that Britain and France considered merging in 1956.

The revelation that the French government proposed a union of Britain and France in 1956 — even offering to accept the sovereignty of the British Queen — has left scholars on both sides of the Channel scratching their heads.

Newly discovered documents in Britain's National Archives show how former French Prime Minister Guy Mollet discussed the possibility of a merger between the two countries with British Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden.

"I completely fell off my seat," said Richard Vinen, an expert in French history at King's College in London. "It's such a bizarre thing to propose."

Fact is stranger than fiction. If this were to have been written in a novel, it would’ve been denounced as too implausible.

Whatever.
