ConsumerWingman.com: Great Gus! and his new BaltTech blog at the Baltimore Sun

Ms. Thanh writes: "...Hey CWingers, I want to give a shout-out to my good friend and former co-worker Gus Sentementes and his new BaltTech blog at the Baltimore Sun."

[...]

"...check out the video he made of the Home Servidor. ...

"It (by it, I mean the tech blog) fills a gaping hole at the paper that was left when Mike "Whizz" Himowitz took a buyout and departed from the paper. You can still catch up with Whizz here at MikePluggedIn."

Wait Times to see doctor may make you sick by Dan Thanh

Hat Tip: Bryan Sears

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Although the wait time for most of the physicians that I see is minimal, I could still really relate with Dan Thanh’s post:

I have to make an appointment to see a doctor soon. It's been about a year since my last visit, maybe longer, and I've been putting it off because A. I hate going to the doctor because I'm convinced they'll find something wrong with me, and B. I hate having to wait to see the doctor.

[…]

Apparently, things are only going to get worse. According to this
USA Today story, you could wait more than a month to see a specialist or a family doctor now. On average, "wait times have increased by 8.6 days per city. Boston had the longest wait, averaging 49.6 days, followed by Philadelphia with 27 and Los Angeles with 24.2. The shortest was Atlanta with an 11.2-day wait," according to a study by Merrit Hawkins and Associates, a consulting firm based in Texas.

In all cities among all the specialties,
the study found that the average wait time was 20.5 days. Holy Moly. I better put in for an appointment now since I might be waiting another year before I see a doctor.

[…]

… just wait and see how much more maddening it will get if the
Obama Administration manages to pass some sort of government-funded universal healthcare system.
