Wargotz ON THE AIR. ‘Promises Made’ addresses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 12, 2010

Wargotz ON THE AIR. ‘Promises Made’ addresses:

Tax Cuts, Government Efficiency and Transparency.

Annapolis, MD Eric Wargotz, an elected member of the Queens Anne’s County Board of Commissioners and a candidate for US Senate from Maryland released the second of the campaign’s, “Eric on the Issues” radio ads, which began airing today on talk radio stations around the state. Wargotz, a physician, is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat currently held by four term incumbent Senator, Barbara Mikulski.

In the spot (click here or visit our web site ) titled, “Promises Made,” Wargotz talks about his 2006 campaign for Commissioner and his commitment to reduce taxes, improve government efficiencies, and increase transparency.

"During my brief time in office, I led the successful fight to reduce the property tax rate, eliminate unnecessary positions, and make government more accessible and more accountable to our constituents," Wargotz said.

In the ad, Wargotz distinguishes himself from his primary opponents, all who lack a proven record. "Campaigns are about talk, governing is about actions. As my track record proves, the promises I made, were promises I kept," he said.

The Commissioner also took on the incumbent's record of deficit spending saying, "Big taxing and even bigger spending liberal policies in Washington are bankrupting our children’s future."

The spot is an addition to series designed to highlight the cornerstones of the campaign and highlight his legislative and executive experience. In the coming weeks, health care, the economy and the environment will also be addressed.

More information can be found on the campaign website at http://www.wargotz.com.

Wargotz: I believe competition and flexibility will reduce healthcare costs

Wargotz

"I believe competition and flexibility will reduce healthcare costs, increase participation and improve quality, not penalties enforced by the IRS."

New Wargotz for U.S. Senate Website
I would like to invite you to visit my new website and support my campaign to replace Barbara Mikulski and become Maryland's newest U.S. Senator. It is clear that more and more citizens of Maryland want their Senate seat back. A majority of Marylanders are now realizing that, after more than 30 years in Congress, Barbara Mikulski does not represent the best interests of Maryland.

Like you, I want the private sector to create jobs, not the government; I want health care reform, not a government takeover; I want a cleaner Chesapeake Bay, not 30 years of lip service; I want strong national security, not taxpayer funded defense attorneys for captured terrorists. Together we can bring about real change in Washington.

On my new website you can get news updates, information about upcoming events, view our latest campaign videos and photos, learn about the most important issues in this campaign, leave me a comment, and support my campaign though a contribution or by volunteering. You can also follow the campaign on
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedInfor the most up to date information and news.

Murphy the “Don” in surprise bid for the Maryland Statehouse

Murphy makes a surprise announcement just after midnight on April 1, 2010 that he will run against former Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, who had just announced on March 30, 2010 that he will be seeking his old office back. http://kevindayhoff.blogspot.com/2010/04/murphy-don-in-surprise-bid-for-maryland.html http://tinyurl.com/yexfeut http://kbetrue.livejournal.com/312008.html

April 1, 2010 by Kevin Dayhoff for Soundtrack

In a surprise announcement, former Maryland Delegate Donald E. Murphy (R) has announced that he will be running for governor of Maryland in the September 14, 2010 Republican Primary.

Many political insiders had speculated privately that Murphy, known as the “Don,” in political circles, may toss his hat in the ring.

Murphy, who is also known to have made recent trips to New Hampshire, is also rumored to be a presidential contender in 2012.

Recently, noted political analyst Joe Steffen wryly wrote, “Murphy told me last night that a potential run for governor on his part was ‘in the mix.’ As MD point man for the 2008 McCain Presidential campaign and Senior Advisor to MD GOP U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Eric Wargotz to go with his other credentials, Murphy undoubtedly has a set of...bona fides.

“While discussing a possible gubernatorial run, Don Murphy did joke, however, that he ‘didn’t want to split the Murphy (primary) vote,’ a reference to young GOP businessman and upstart candidate, Brian Murphy, who is already running for governor in the GOP primary,” continued Steffen.

“Who knows? Maybe an actual Ehrlich run will entice Don Murphy into the campaign, concerns over splitting the Murphy vote be damned,” wrote Steffen.

Opening shot across the bow…

Steffen noted, “Beyond then-Governor Ehrlich's 2006 taxpayer-dollar-spending-spree-for-votes, THAT brings us back to the libertarian leaning conservative Don Murphy, who when talking about Mr. Ehrlich in the context of being conservative with the tax dollars offered this priceless observation:

“‘Saying Bob Ehrlich is a fiscal conservative is like saying Ocean Gallery (http://oceangallery.com/) is an art museum.’

“That wasn't the beer and bravado talking - but it was the best line of the night. And, hey, isn't the best humor always rooted in the truth?”

Are you experienced?

Murphy is experienced and known to be comfortable in his own skin and in the political arena.

Murphy previously represented District 12A, which covered portions of Baltimore and Howard County Maryland in the Maryland General Assembly from January 1995 to January 2003.

He is a graduate of Andover High School in Linthicum Maryland and graduated from the University of Baltimore with a degree in real estate in 1983.

In recent years, Murphy has been affiliated with the lobbying firm of Genn & Murphy and is a well known and popular GOP Strategist and advisor to U.S. Senate Candidate Dr. Eric Wargotz of Maryland.

In 1994, Murphy defeated the House Majority Leader in a legislative district that had never elected a Republican, according to the Genn & Murphy web site.

While a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, Murphy was a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Civil Law & Procedure Subcommittee. He served as Deputy Minority Whip from 2002 until 2003. Murphy did not seek reelection in 2002.

The Gunn & Murphy web site also reveals “After his reelection in 1998, he became an unlikely advocate for Medical Marijuana legislation as a result of being approached by a Green Beret constituent who was dying of cancer.

“The passage of the Darrell Putman Compassionate Use Act in 2003 placed Mr. Murphy in exclusive company with substantial national media recognition.

“When The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun and The Gazette listed their “winners and losers” for the Legislative Session, he was one of three, and the only non-incumbent legislator, named to the “winners” list in all three publications.”

“Murphy, a nationally-known campaign advisor, travels extensively at the request of candidates and focus groups who seek his advice,” according to his web site, Genn & Murphy.

Well-liked, well dressed and handsome.

The handsome, well-dressed Murphy is well-liked on both sides of the political aisle and many keen political observers, speaking on background noted, that he has the best chance of anyone to garner the vote in the General Election this November in the heavily Democrat cobalt-blue state of the Maryland.

“Murphy’s congeniality and work-ethic make him a favorite with members of both Maryland Legislative Houses controlled by Democrats,” notes his web site.

“During Mr. Murphy’s first term, the Guidebook of Maryland Legislators called him ‘the nicest Delegate in Annapolis.’ Near the end of his second term, the Montgomery Gazette concluded in its analysis of legislators that Mr. Murphy was unquestionably ‘liked by everyone,’” according to the Genn & Murphy web site.

“Mr. Murphy’s congeniality and work-ethic make him a favorite with members of both Maryland Legislative Houses controlled by Democrats, in addition to the new Republican Administration that has many of his former colleagues and friends in key policy and decision-maker roles,” notes the web site.

Most of the folks in Maryland tend to be more moderate

In a 2008 interview with MSNBC, Murphy, a political moderate, observed, “Most of the folks in Maryland tend to be more moderate,” said Don Murphy, who is the chairman of the Maryland delegation at the (Republican National) convention.”

The web site also notes that “Prior to running for office, Mr. Murphy held key positions in the commercial real estate field, including real estate analyst for Baltimore City’s Economic Development office and as Director of Leasing for a million square foot office and industrial park….”

Murphy is a life-long resident of Maryland with his wife, Gloria, who will be just as surprised as the “Don” and the rest of us that he is running for governor.

Then again, how could they have known – after all it is April Fools’ Day.

Many are sad that the "Don" will not be running for governor this year...

Yesterday's announcement by Governor Robert L. Ehrlich put the cabash on the hopes of many that the "Don" (former Delegate Don Murphy) would run for the governor's mansion in Annapolis.

March 31, 2010

Meanwhile, it appears that Mr. Darkness has a thing or two to say: "On Announcing the Announcement Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Mr. Darkness writes:

"You know, here I was all ready to blog a neat, fun, piece about former delegate, lobbyist, and MD Delegation Chairman to the 2008 Republican National Convention, Don Murphy, saying he was considering a run for Governor in the Maryland GOP Primary this year, and what happens? Former Governor Bob Ehrlich picks today to initiate phase two of his Bataan Death March – not to election day 2010, mind you – but to his own damned announcement. How many times do these guys plan to leak this?

Whatever, onto the Don Murphy scenario first…

As is my wont when I am in the burg, I go to the Waterfront Hotel in Fells Point to relish in the etherally charged vocals of Bonnie Leigh (Boswell). On most such occasions, I am joined in this Heavenly pursuit by one or more GOP political types. This past Monday our group, which included former National Young Republican Chair Nicolee Ambrose, former Ehrlich speechwriter Richard Cross and yours truly, was joined by the aforementioned Don Murphy.

Though he told me this morning (prior to Mr. Ehrlich announcing his intentions to announce for governor on April 7th) that it was the “Beer and bravado talking,” Murphy told me last night that a potential run for governor on his part was “in the mix.” As MD point man for the 2008 McCain Presidential campaign and Senior Advisor to MD GOP U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Eric Wargotz to go with his other credentials, Murphy undoubtedly has a set of...bona fides.

[Wargotz for Senate] Congress says "You will learn to like it."

"You will learn to like it."

That is what the White House and Democrat Congressional leaders are saying today about the Health Care legislation. In fact, they go so far to say, once people start receiving new health care entitlements, they won't give them up.

And in less than two years the Federal Government has socialized 51% of the United States economy. The banking industry, the insurance industry, the mortgage industry, student loan industry, Chrysler, GM and now the health care industry.

The White House and Congressional Democrats are counting on the fact that either:

1) you don't care, or

2) you can be bought off.

Friends, I do care and I will not be bought off! My forefathers fought for this Country and fought for other countries—for freedom, for liberty and for democracy! I cannot sit idly by and watch our Country be taken away from us.

I need your help. Please support my campaign to take back America. Please follow this link to make a donation of $25, $50, $100, $250 or more to my campaign.

For over 30 years, my opponent, Barbara Mikulski, has voted for almost every anti competitive, undemocratic piece of legislation that has come before her. She represents a small liberal group of socialists hell-bent on establishing socialism. Barbara Mikulski does not represent me, the citizens of Maryland, nor the citizens of the United States.

And, as we know, socialism does not work. It did not work in Cuba, it did not work in Argentina, it did not work in Russia and it will not work here.

Wednesday, March 31st is the reporting deadline for this quarter. Please help me stop Barbara Mikulski by donating $25, $50, $100, $250 or more to my campaign. Any amount you can donate will help.

Thank you for your continued support,

Eric

Eric Wargotz, M.D.

P.S. Please let me know you care and that you cannot be bought off. Make your online contribution of $25 or more before the end of Wednesday, March 31st. Thank you.

Send a message to

Barbara Mikulski

that you want your

Country back

Your urgent support is needed

Wargotz Files for U.S. Senate and Explains Path to Victory

LogoLarge.jpg

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 25, 2010

Wargotz Files for U.S. Senate and Explains Path to Victory

Annapolis, MD (March 25, 2010) – Queen Anne's County Commissioner Eric Wargotz, M.D. made it official Friday when he filed the papers to officially run for the U.S. Senate. Dr. Wargotz has been traveling around the state since last July meeting with voters, discussing issues and taking the State's temperature. "Voters are not just hot around the collar," Wargotz said about the voter sentiment, "they are steamed about the direction Congress is taking our country."

Wargotz filed at the State Board of Elections in Annapolis and then met with legislators and reporters at the State House in Annapolis, followed by radio interviews from Ocean City to Frederick, finishing the day with bloggers and social networking activists.

During the day, Commissioner Wargotz discussed the issues which make up the four cornerstones of his campaign: Fiscal Responsibility and the Economy, Health Care, National Security and the Chesapeake Bay.

Perhaps most importantly, he laid out his path to victory saying, "it is clear that more and more citizens of Maryland want their Senate seat back. For too long, our current Senator has voted lock-step with Senator Harry Reid of Nevada. The Constitution does not give Nevada three Senate seats and Maryland one. In addition, the latest Rasmussen poll has Barbara Mikulski dropping 12 percentage points since her vote for socialized Health Care. A majority of Marylanders are now realizing that, after 30 years in Congress, Barbara Mikulski does not represent the best interests of Maryland."

"Voters are angry and want new representation," Wargtoz said. "Voters want the private sector to create jobs, not the government; voters want health care reform, not a government takeover; voters want a cleaner Chesapeake Bay, not 30 years of lip service; voters want strong national security, not taxpayer funded defense attorneys for captured terrorists," Wargotz continued.

With the health care debate and the national economy focusing attention on federal issues, in addition to our close proximity to Washington, the campaign believes Maryland will have record voter turnout. "If voters turnout as they do in Presidential elections, we win," he said confidently.

Wargotz is the leading challenger opposing Barbara Mikulski. The Wargotz Campaign is led by a veteran Maryland team of advisors and staff as well as a statewide volunteer organization. As of the latest Federal Election Commission reporting deadline, Wargotz held a commanding lead in fundraising among Republican challengers.

Eric Wargotz, M.D., his wife Cheryl-Ann and their three children live in Queen Anne's County. Dr. Wargotz is the elected President of the Queen Anne's County Board of County Commissioners (2006) and practices medicine in Prince George's County.

Recent articles by Doug Tallman

Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. bowed out of the Republican gubernatorial race Monday, calling on his former boss, Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., to enter the campaign against Gov. Martin O'Malley.

Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown said Friday that he didn't think Ehrlich had much of a record to run on, in case he does try to reclaim the governorship.

Also on the election front, Carmen Amedori, a former delegate, announced she was running for U.S. Senate.

[…]

Meanwhile, Amedori would be the third Republican to file a candidacy for U.S. Senate. Daniel W. McAndrew and Jim Rutledge, both of Forest Hill, have filed to run as Republican candidates for senator, according to the Maryland State Board of Elections. Eric Wargotz, a Queen Anne's County commissioner and pathologist, also is planning to run for the seat.

"It's not something on a whim. It's something I've been wanting all my life," said Amedori, who spent five and a half years in the House of Delegates representing a Carroll County district before Ehrlich appointed her to the Maryland Parole Commission.

The winner of the Sept. 14 Republican primary is likely to face U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski, who is seeking a fifth term.

Defeating Mikulski, a Baltimore Democrat, could be an uphill climb for any Republican. A January poll by Gonzales Research and Marketing of Annapolis put her approval rating at 64 percent, higher than President Barack Obama and Gov. Martin O'Malley.

"Sen. Mikulski has been in office for four terms. I'm sure she has helped a lot of constituents. I'm sure her constituent service has been excellent. But they have not met Carmen Amedori," Amedori said. "I know how to provide for my constituency. And I would hope that anyone who has covered a seat for that long would have that kind of approval rating. But that's not going to deter me."

Amedori, 54, said she would work to remove excess regulations.

"For every law or regulation that people are out there supporting, I would work hard to repeal three or four others," she said.

Amedori served in the House of Delegates until 2004, when Ehrlich appointed her to the Parole Commission. That appointment ended in January.
