Crablaw is reporting Live…: Live from the Maryland Republican Party party…
The Maryland Democratic party says Michael Steele and Bob Ehrlich hit an all time low in American politics, accusing them of distributing misleading sample ballots that pretend Ehrlich-Steele are Democrats and that Jack Johnson and Kweisi Mfume endorsed both of them.
Party chairman Terry Lierman calls it "shameless fraud."
Shareese DeLeaver, a spokesperson for the Ehrlich campaign told the
"Given the county executive's tight race in the primary, it's unfortunate that he does not appreciate the campaign's expression of support for his reelection bid," she said.
The Democrats also allege Steele's campaign hired buses to pick up workers at homeless shelters in
An article in the Gazette newspaper quotes two of the men, Gary Swimpson and Leon Watson, as saying the Steele campaign came to their homeless shelter in Philadelphia in the wee hours of Tuesday, offering $100, donuts and coffee for anyone willing to work the polls on Election Day.

I’m sure the announcement was put-off until the stock market closed. No word yet as to whether the market will open tomorrow.
And no word from the president as this tragic event unfolds.
Unconfirmed reports are that Howard Dean has blamed the breakup of the marriage on President Bush and the Republicans and that it is intended to discourage voter turn-out. Word is that many Democrats are disconsolate over the news and refused to go to the polls in order to watch Katie Couric for guidance at this difficult time.
Where’s Kofi Annan when we need him? Or maybe Dr. Phil?
Actually, as I sob uncontrollably and my fingers can barely navigate the keyboard, I’m not sure what to think. I’m just trying to do my patriotic duty to call this terrible event to your attention, so that you may be informed.
What’s that? Oh, my radio is now playing somber martial music at the moment. Our great nation has been thrown into a deep depression as it tries to come to grips with this terrible terrible terrible blow to our sense of who we are and what we want to be and what are we going to have for dinner.
That’s it - - comfort food. Let’s see cottage cheese? No – yogurt? I know ice cream. That’s it - - when the going gets tough, the tough reach for ice cream.
I’m sure the announcement was timed so that we may all tune in to Katie Couric so that she may tell us how we really feel - - and to comfort us in our time of grief and need and sorrow.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to the fearless leader of the Maryland Blogger Alliance, Attila at the Pillage Idiot.
And yes, Ms. Dray, I agree with you about the title of the piece. If Mr. Gainor’s experience is anything like mine, even though I have a fabulous working relationship with my editors, I have essentially never had any input on the titles to my columns or articles. Editors jealously guard that dominion.
But I gotta tell ya, Mr. Gainor put one heckuva lot of work into what is the most definitive piece yet on blogging in Maryland. Thanks.
Yes folks; the number one rule of blogging is to have an understanding spouse. It goes along with the same joke about artists: whadda ya call an unmarried 50 year-old artist? Homeless.
I am fortunately married to one of the neatest women on the planet. 
(Sorry Mr. Modjesky.) Not only is she waaaay cool and understanding, but she actually has a job - - and she does small engine repairs. Thank Gawd!

On Monday, October 30th, 2006, I had the pleasure to appear on WYPR’s “The Mark Steiner Show” with UMBC Professor Tom Schaller for a discussion of the upcoming
Thomas F. Schaller, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
The show came on the heals of a column Dr. Schaller had just penned in The Examiner, on October 27th, 2006, “Will Ehrlich see first defeat of his political career?”
I keep running across Crablaw’s post: “Kevin Dayhoff on WYPR Marc Steiner show,” that reminds me that I haven’t posted about the show. You might say, that for several days, Crablaw has played the role of my “electronic wife.”
Crablaw, we will look forward to your analysis of the program. Hopefully you draw the same conclusion as I did, that the Schaller-Dayhoff show actually furthered intelligent conversation about the current state of pre-election politics in

Although I have done radio before; (once for a very brief appearance on WBAL after “Who is Max Cleland?” and with Stu Kerr's radio talk show, "The Garden Club", on WCBM several times in 1989 and 1990 - - ages ago, in a previous life as a horticultural expert… I haven’t done it for awhile and was worried that I would be rusty. Oh yeah, I did plenty of radio and “stand-ups,” when I was mayor of
Mark Steiner and Dr. Schaller - -and the production assistant, Marcus Charleston, made it easy…
To state the obvious, radio is very different from writing columns. With columns, you can write and re-write and re-write a sentence over and over again until it is (hopefully) just right. Not so with radio. Once it comes out of your mouth, that’s it. Bam!

First Lady Kendel Ehrlich Visits English American Tailoring and
Burning the midnight oil, a little while ago, I received this e-mail update on the travels of First Lady Kendel Ehrlich:
First Lady Kendel Ehrlich met employees at English American Tailors yesterday during a change in lunch shifts and also toured the impressive plant of the #1 custom tailoring company in the world.
The employees appreciated her visit and enjoyed sharing their work experiences with the First Lady, Senator Larry Haines and Delegate Tanya Shewell.
At the Republican HQs, they were joined by Senator David Brinkley and a number of candidates and central committee members including former Delegate Carmen Amedori, Commissioner candidate Mike Zimmer, Central Committee members Diana Jones, Donald Hoffman and Jim Reter, and Carroll Ehrlich coordinator Doug Howard.
After a short rally to victory, the First Lady stood at the large Republican campaign signs on the vacant lot for photographs.
The two workers at the Democratic HQs took the opportunity to come out and introduce themselves to the First Lady.
