GEORGIA COP KILLER HAS BEEN EXECUTED BY LETHAL INJECTION

GEORGIA COP KILLER HAS BEEN EXECUTED BY LETHAL INJECTION

GEORGIA COP KILLER HAS BEEN EXECUTED BY LETHAL INJECTION: Cop Killer Troy Anthony Davis has been executed this evening for the August 19, 1989 cold-blooded  murder of (formerly) City of Savannah, Ga. POLICE OFFICER MARK ALLEN MacPHAIL Sr.. Cop Killer Davis, 42, was convicted and sentenced to death back in 1991. He had had every opportunity and had used up every appeal option available over the last 22 years after his conviction to prove he did not pull the trigger, but failed to do so. After more than 2 decades of countless appeals, tremendous heartache which amounted to cruel and unusual punishment on our Brother’s family, following a last minute 4 hour delay, they can finally close this chapter of their lives. Cop Killer Troy Anthony Davis was put to death at 2308 hrs. 09/21/2011. Now perhaps, we hope and pray, the MacPhail family can move forward with all the good memories of their son, husband, father, brother.
*TWICE THE HERO* Officer Mark MacPhail, who was just 27 years old at the time of his murder. Our Warrior Brother was a veteran of the United States Army and had been Saving, Serving and Protecting the People of Savannah for three years. Ofc. MacPhail laid down his life so another may live. Brother Mark was working when he ran to the rescue of a homeless man who was being beaten. Ofc. MacPhail was shot and then executed, leaving behind his beloved bride and 2 children under the age of 2. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Brother’s family, both of blood and of Blue.
May you now rest with peace Police Officer Mark Allen MacPhail Sr. # 212 as we continue the watch from here … In Our Brother’s Honor. We thank you for your service and for your sacrifice. We thank you for your life. One of the hardest things your family, both of blood and of Blue had to endure was the constant and continuous stories and photos of the killer. Each time, every article written, the victim, the HERO POLICEMAN, seemed to have gotten lost. But WE WILL NEVER FORGET!
*This case has garnered international attention from both sides. The MacPhail family said it best “”They are listening to people who have not read the court case. If you have not reviewed it then you can’t make judgment, ok?” And for the record, Ofc. Mark MacPhail was not “off-duty” as all media outlets had kept on printing. He was working and ON DUTY secondary job and acted in the full performance of his duties! background information on this case from beginning to end by FOP 9: http://www.fop9.net/markmacphail/debunkingthemyths.cfm

Sweet memories still remain from Shaffer & Co. Variety Store

Sweet memories still remain from Shaffer & Co. Variety Store

Sweet memories still remain from Shaffer & Co. Variety Store Baltimore Sun By Kevin Dayhoff

It was 50 years ago when the Shaffer & Co. Variety Store, a Westminster institution close to the hearts of many children in town, closed.

After our recent columns in The Eagle regarding the Westminster Post Office building at the corner of Main Street and Longwell Avenue, a number of readers have been in touch with questions.

Several asked about the two buildings that once stood to the east of the post office in what is now a parking lot.

A Jan. 13, 1966, newspaper clipping provided by local historian George Welty, tells part of the story, noting that "the Stonesifer building (was) being demolished last week to make way for Post Office enlargement..."

Kevin Dayhoff The Tentacle: Presidential Tax Attack

September 21, 2011

Presidential Tax Attack
Kevin E. Dayhoff
Just as the United States’ economy teeters on the brink of a double-dip recession, President Barack Obama on Monday prescribed his solution – $1.5 trillion in new taxes.

Of course, the president’s plan has nothing at all to do with addressing the economic woes of the nation, creating jobs, stimulating the economy or dealing with the national debt. It is all about the president keeping his job in the face of his plummeting job approval ratings and an increasingly restless far-left political base.

When the president first took office, he enjoyed historically high approval ratings and his party held an overwhelming majority in both houses of Congress. Yet he could not get a tax increase passed.

That was before the political tsunami of last year’s elections, which witnessed the majority in the House go to Republicans, who are in no mood for a tax increase.

Zachary A. Goldfarb noted in a Washington Post piece last Sunday: “But his plan has little chance of passing and is already inflaming Republicans, who have vowed to oppose new taxes and have called for deep cuts in federal spending and entitlements. On Sunday, Republicans responded with vitriol to the proposal to create a special tax for millionaires.”

Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), chairman of the House Budget Committee, said for many on Fox News Sunday that “class warfare may make for really good politics, but it makes for rotten economics… It adds further instability to our system, more uncertainty, and it punishes job creation.”

Washington Post News Alert: U.S. issues sharp warning to Pakistan about ties to leading Taliban group

News Alert: U.S. issues sharp warning to Pakistan about ties to leading Taliban group
September 20, 2011 9:50:33 PM
----------------------------------------

EXCLUSIVE | The Obama administration has sharply warned Pakistan that it must cut ties with a leading Taliban group based in the tribal region along the Afghan border and help eliminate its leaders, according to officials from both countries. In what amounts to an ultimatum, administration officials have indicated that the United States will act unilaterally if Pakistan does not comply with demands to act against the Haqqani network.
