Joshua Christopher Farkas Obituary November 23, 1979 ~ July 7, 2022 (age 42)
Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home https://www.myersdurborawfh.com/obituary/Joshua-Farkas
Joshua C. Farkas, 42, of Westminster, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Born November 23, 1979, he was the son of Thomas Paul and Gwendolyn Ann Farkas.
He was the loving husband of Amy B. Farkas, his wife of 15 years. He was the grandson of William Farkas; son-in-law of Darlene Spencer and John Braun, Jr; the brother of Jennifer Little and husband Doug, Kathryn Mahjoubian and husband Rob; brother-in-law to Angel Pheabus and husband Tim, Laura Braun, and John Braun, III and wife Angie; an uncle to Justin Pheabus, Marissa Resto-Braun, John Braun IV, Annabel Little, Kahlan Braun, Calum Little, Henry Mahjoubian, and William Mahjoubian.
Where do you start with such a special soul? After your first meeting with Josh, your takeaway would be how funny he is. He would keep you laughing with his quick wit and quips. Then when you got to know him better, you couldn't help but love him.
His enthusiasm for all his favorite things was contagious - movies (horror was his all-time favorite), comics (especially Neil Gaiman's Sandman), all types of music, Superheroes (but it was really the Supervillains he preferred), Star Wars, Pro Wrestling (he really liked Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega, the Kenny Omega vs. Okada match was one of his favorites) and so many more. He'd capture you and make you into a superfan, too.
Then you'd get to see his tremendous love for his wife, Amy, their 2 dogs, Ripley and Vesper, and their 5 cats, Fred, George, Loki, Gemma, and Harley. Josh loved spending time with them and traveling with Amy. Doing everything he could to support Amy and work toward their goals was very important to him.
He would also treat you to the best damn meal you ever had. His holiday meals, chili, lasagna, pulled pork, and so many others would have you waiting for your next invite.
If you were lucky, you would then get an invite to go to an Orioles baseball game with him. He loved being a season ticket holder and loved sharing that experience with his family and friends. Josh had such a giving heart. There are so many lives he touched, and he will live forever through us and our memories.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions in Josh’s name to Humane Society of Carroll County at https://hscarroll.org/donate/ .

VINTAGE 1958 KRAFT VELVEETA CHEESE COMMERCIAL
Yup, Velveeta, 104-years later, is still available
Yup, Velveeta is a food product from our childhood that is still manufactured. Velveeta, a brand name for a processed cheese product was first made by Emil Frey of the "Monroe Cheese Company" in Monroe, New York. According to a January 15, 2014 article in Smithsonian Magazine written by Natasha Geiling, found here, https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/there-is-no-shortage-history-when-it-comes-velveeta-180949312/?no-ist; Frey was “a Swiss cheesemaker who moved from Switzerland to upstate New York, where he worked in cheese factories in the late 1880s….”
Frey “learned that by adding a by-product of cheesemaking called whey, which is the liquid released from curds during the cheesemaking process, to the leftover Swiss bits, he could create a very cohesive end-product. Frey named the product Velveeta, and in 1923, the Velveeta Cheese Company became its own corporation. It was successful for a while as its own company (which was based out of Monroe, NY), but in 1927, it was sold to Kraft Foods…
“In 1931, the American Medical Association gave Velveeta its stamp of approval, citing that the product had all the necessary nutritional value to build ‘firm flesh.’
“Velveeta's popularity increased throughout the '30s, '40s
and into the '50s--studies of consumer preference done in the 1930s found that
two-thirds of Americans preferred processed cheese to natural cheese…”
