Public Message from WYPR President Tony Brandon
(UPDATED 2/6/08)
Letter From the President

Dear WYPR Listeners,
Over the past few days we have heard from many of you regarding the cancellation of Marc Steiner’s show. I want to let you know that we hear you and we hear your concerns. The sequence of events that led to the sudden cancellation of Marc’s show unfolded rather quickly. Understandably, the news came as a shock to our listeners and supporters. For this I sincerely apologize. I assure you that this decision was not entered into lightly and was a very difficult one for everyone here at WYPR.
Please know that everyone at this station is one hundred percent committed to the mission and values of public radio. This change will in no way affect our commitment to providing our community with a voice or to addressing the most important and pressing issues that affect all of us on a local, statewide or national level.
Every person in this building, whether they be on the production side, in membership, on-air, or part of our administrative staff, works every day to bring the community the best public radio programming possible. We hope that you will not forget that and, while we understand that the Steiner cancellation represents a loss to many of you, we want to remind you of the role that this station, as a whole, plays in your everyday life.
If you are thinking of switching the dial because of this decision, please stop to consider how much
Kind regards,
Anthony S. Brandon
President
