(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama has named to the federal government’s faith-based initiative a gay-rights activist who last month described Pope Benedict XVI and certain Catholic bishops as “discredited leaders” because of their opposition to same-sex marriage. Harry Knox, who is a newly appointed member of Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is the director of the religion and faith program at the Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual activist group.

The group says none of the federal grants it receives are used to support its Web sites.

COMMENTARY

CEObama: The Car Czar By Ed Feulner As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for—you just might get it. Just ask American car makers. In accepting taxpayer money, the troubled companies got more than they bargained for. No wonder some banks are now returning federal bailout money. They’d rather risk failure than virtually guarantee it by having policymakers in Washington tell them who to hire and how much to pay. So what might a government-owned automaker look like?

March Madness, 1939 By Patrick J. Buchanan On Sept. 1, 1939, Hitler’s panzers smashed into Poland. Two days later, an anguished Neville Chamberlain declared war, the most awful war in all of history. Was the war inevitable? No. No war is inevitable until it has begun. But if the war need not have happened, what caused it? Let us go back to Munich.
