FP Pays Tribute to Injured NYT Photog
Renowned combat photographer, Joao Silva suffered serious injuries when he stepped on a landmine over the weekend. On contract to the New York Times, Silva, who has braved war zones and natural disasters for nearly fifteen years, was embedded with U.S. troops in southern Afghanistan when tragedy struck. As a result of his injuries, Silva underwent surgery to amputate both his legs at a U.S. military hospital in Germany on Sunday.
To pay tribute to the courageous photojournalist, FP has published his powerful story and a gallery of his work. Check it out here.
