John Halsey Shippee Jr., 55, of Taneytown, MD died
unexpectedly on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center
in Salisbury, MD. Born March 7, 1960 in
Patterson, NJ, he was the son of Frances (Madonna) Cole of Taneytown, formerly
of Patterson, NJ, and the late John H. Shippee Sr. He was the husband of Melanie Shippee, they
were together for 18 years.
John was a
Lieutenant with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, where he served for 22
years. He was a member of Frizzellburg
Bible Church, and Carroll County F.O.P. Lodge 20 in Westminster. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors,
riding his Harley, and watching Dallas Cowboys football. More than anything, he loved spending time
with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Surviving
in addition to his wife and mother are son, Jesse Shippee of Taneytown;
daughters, Alee Guthrie and husband Derek of Taneytown, Shelby Teehee and
husband Ben of Mercersburg, PA, and Erin Shippee of Hanover, PA; brother,
Kenneth Shippee and wife Kathy of Mt. Savage, MD; sister, Patricia Fontanna of
Glen Burnie; grandchildren, Peyton Thomas and Ryleigh Teehee; several nieces
and nephews; and his two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Banxs and Sage.
A memorial
service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, November
19, 2015 at Frizzellburg Bible Church, 1905 Frizzellburg Rd, Westminster, MD,
21158, with Pastor Andrew Reisberg officiating.
Interment will be private. The
family will receive friends from 2:30 until the time of the service at the
church. Arrangements have been entrusted
to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown, MD.
