MSFA: Arrangements for Deputy Chief Ronald Murphy, Urbana

Mr. Ronald Wayne Murphy, age 61, of Ijamsville, passed away
unexpectedly on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband for 35 years of Sharon (Brandenburg)
Murphy.
Born on April 5, 1955, in Frederick, he was the son of the
late Gene Francis and Lucille (Rhoderick) Murphy.
Mr. Murphy devoted his entire life doing what he loved most,
farming on his family farm in Ijamsville.
He was a graduate of Linganore High School in the Class of
1973.
He served the Urbana Fire Co. in numerous positions,
including the Deputy Chief which was his current position.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in
Ijamsville.
He also belonged to the Maryland Agriculture Council, active
with Ag Week and was a member of Heart of Maryland Tractor Pullers.
In his youth, he was active in 4-H and Linganore FFA.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his
siblings, Charles Murphy and wife Mary of Union Bridge, Joyce Fogle and husband
Robert of Ijamsville, Lisa Gaver and husband Mike of New Market, and Steven
Murphy of Ijamsville, and Rick Murphy of Ijamsville.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Marlene
Brandenburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lloyd
Brandenburg.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 10,
2016, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home,
106 E. Church St., Frederick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday,
November 11, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 4103
Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville, MD 21754. The burial will follow at Mount
Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
Contributions may be made in Mr. Murphy's name to the Urbana
Fire Department, 3602 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704.
