Please stay off the roads today so that road crews and
emergency vehicles
Sunday evening, January 24, 2015
Still need to encourage folks to take a chill pill. A
snowstorm of historic proportions just stopped hours ago. Be patient and stay
home.
Everyone in the emergency response community is sensitive to
family members with medical conditions; however, at this time, public works
snow removal personnel, fire, police, and emergency medical services are stretched
to the limit and in too many situations are struggling to respond to current
requests for services…
Earlier today, Carroll County government and the City of
Taneytown said it well, “Please stay off the roads today so that road crews and
emergency vehicles may traverse the roads as needed, unimpeded. The roads are
still impassible in many areas and personal vehicles getting stuck is not
helping the roads get cleared any faster. Stay home, stay warm. Drink cocoa!
As Governor Larry Hogan said in a recent release, “I want to
thank Marylanders for the common sense they have shown thus far… I want to urge
people to continue to stay off of the roads unless travel is absolutely
essential. It is still very dangerous out there and stalled and abandoned
vehicles make it that much harder for snow plow operators. Your safety is our
top priority.”
